Blau Gospel Choir was formed in the year 2006 as a fusion of the gospel choirs of the cities of Denia, Alcoy, and Xátiva, with the intention of making known the profound message present in Gospel music and Black spirituals. These three choirs, each with more than 10 years of experience in gospel music, provide a total of 70 voices, 6 instrument players, and 3 lighting and sound technicians. The choirs have performed on the stage of the National Auditorium of Madrid, Palau de la Musica of Valencia, Palacio de Congresos of Valencia, Gran Teatre of Xátiva, Teatro Circo of Albacete, Denia Auditorium, Teatro of Alcoy, the recent Expo Zaragoza 2008, etc.
During the month of December 2008, Blau Gospel Choir participated in the Vía Magna Festival, organized by Caja Madrid, performing in different cities of the Valencian region and Murcia.
The musical director of the choir is Pau Llorens. He was born in Alicante in the year 1972. Among his many qualities, we highlight that he is a pianist, composer and arranger, and began conducting choirs at the early age of 13. As co-directors and essential support are Carlos Samper (Alcoy), Débora Tasqué (Xátiva) and Esteban Ramón (Xátiva).Blau Gospel Choir stands out because of the energy and liveliness of its performance. Choir members and musicians communicate the essence of gospel music and Black spirituals with all their might. They feel and experience each song and each phrase on a personal level, and that is what allows a message to be understood by the listeners and transforms a concert into an authentic celebration.
